Witness the super event of the summer at Gaylord Texan’s Universe of Light featuring DC!! Thousands of lanterns bring Superheroes and Supervillians to life in a larger-than-life display that’s absolutely spectacular. Wander through iconic DC locations like Metropolis, Gotham City, and Themyscira and see legendary characters: the powerful Superman, the mysterious Batman, the brave Wonder Woman, and the honorable Justice League.

The Attraction

Universe of Light featuring DC is located inside a massive 17,500 sq. ft. tent at Gaylord Texan. The lanterns come in all sort of colors, shapes, and sizes - some up to 24 feet tall! Visitors will enter the DC Universe and have the chance to take unforgettable photos - aerial battles above Metropolis, a chance to sit inside the Batmobile, and be in the center of a battle in Themyscira. You’ll also have meet-and-greet opportunities with real-life DC Super Heroes.

The Artists

The history of lantern-making is as fascinating as the lanterns themselves. 160 craftsmen from Zigong, China, also known as the “Lantern Capital of the World”, created this wonderful spectacle. Since the Tang and Song dynasties, Zigong artisans have perfected the intricate and detailed process of lantern-making.Their artistry is one honed from 1,000-year-old traditions of artistic craftsmanship.

Each creation is meticulously thought out and requires a perfect blend of engineering and design. The craftsmen start with intricate sketches, before building the frames by hand, draping them in colorful silk, and illuminating them from within with thousands of LED lights. Everything you see in Universe of Light - from the facial expressions, to the elements of each environment - has been crafted with the utmost attention and care. The result is a phenomenal immersive display of art, light, and movement.

Know Before You Go

  • Your ticket time is when you should arrive at the Resort Tour Lobby. After parking, enter the Main Lobby and go to the left towards the Resort Tour Lobby.

  • After arriving at the Resort Tour Lobby, you will take a short shuttle to the Universe of Light as it is offsite from the main hotel building.

  • Universe of Light featuring DC is a self-guided walk-through experience. I recommend taking your time to take everything in and appreciate all the artistry involved. At the end, there is a small shop selling DC merchandise.

  • Food and drinks are not permitted in the attraction.

  • While tickets are non-refundable, you can exchange them for a different date up to 72 hours before your originally scheduled ticket. Reply to your confirmation email and the event staff will be happy to assist you in rescheduling.

  • The resort garage has arranged a discounted daily parking rate of $15. To get this discount, stop by one of the two validation spots (located in the Resort Tour Lobby and Universe of Light Shop) and have the staff scan your ticket. They will then give you a sticker QR code to scan when leaving the parking garage.
